In today's world, much of our daily life incorporates a computer in some form or fashion. Therefore keeping these computers and their parts running at maximum efficiency is a must.


Many of the most common problems are quick and easy fixes! I have devised a list of some common problems I and others often run into and some helpful tips on how to go about fixing these problems.





  • Computer running slow

Delete temporary Internet files: Control panel: Internet options: Browsing history: Delete


Update Software: many updates are available online at the companies website


Remove unnecessary programs: Old used programs waste space and memory. Control


Panel: Add/Remove programs


Check for Spyware: Software such as Symantec Antivirus and Endpoint Protection can


scan for and remove unwanted Spyware



  • Computer shuts down by itself

Make sure fans are clean and working properly (Dust removal canisters work well)


Check/inspect Power supply



  • Computer freezes

Check for and remove any spyware: Update antivirus software regularly


Update drivers: check companies website for driver updates


Increase virtual memory: Control Panel: System: Advanced (tab): Performance:


Click settings: Advanced: Under virtual memory click change: Adjust Drive (usually C:)
